ArabelLee is Revived! : A Sneak Peek
After the death of Lee Fletcher and
Arabella Deshoulieres’ struggle to move on from the love of her life, I decided
to stop torturing them and let them go no matter what Aphrodite (and some of
her children) wants. It's enough. I'm tired, they're tired, and nothing's gonna
come out of their relationship unless Arabella would just hurry up and die
already so that she can be reunited with Lee in Elysium.
But of course the Moirae would
agree with Aphrodite and I end up with ArabelLee fanfiction that’s need to be
written yet again. A birthday wish of a certain friend of mine has gone awry.
So here it is, a sneak peek from the newest story of ArabelLee
series:
Arabella’s Five Failed Attempts in Celebrating Lee’s
Birthday.
Or, the three times
Arabella is numb-tongued, the two times she tries to sneak a gift, and the one
time a pair of bells ring a bell.
“Bella! A package on your bed.” Mitchell yelled,
dashing outside the Aphrodite cabin with Darren close on his heel.
“Thanks, Mitch.” Arabella yelled back.
“Come back here you little twat!” Darren roared,
trying to catch the smaller boy and almost flattened Arabella in the process.
“Sorry sis!”
“Don’t worry.” Arabella chuckled, watching in
amusement as the two boys ran all the way across the field.
She continued to walk through the rows of bed until
she stopped in front of a pastel green bottom bunk bed with a ladybug plushie
and a toy black cat with a bell wrapped around its neck. On the wall, pictures
of Arabella with her friends and family scattered side by side with her
schedules and notes. A picture of Nicholas Hoult plastered under the top bed so
Arabella can stare at him like a creeper every night before she goes to sleep.
And if she put it there because Nicholas’ warm-but-also-piercing blue eyes
remind her of a certain son of Apollo… well, no one needs to know that.
A pink box wrapped in a bright red ribbon sat on top
of her bed. She frowned as she took it carefully, examining the package with
caution.
“This can’t be from Drew, right?” she murmured to
herself, checking that there was no card. “Drew wouldn’t even bother wrapping a
prank gift, let alone decorate it with a ribbon.”
Arabella slowly unscrambled the gift and found a
heart-shaped card on the top of the white box inside
.
Dearest
daughter,
Here I give you
some excellent material as a bonus gift for your excellent work finding my lost
favorite hair comb. You can make it into bags, belt, shoes or whatever. I was
planning to take it to my favorite designer and let him do his magic but I’ve
got no time. Artemis is out for my blood because the pelt is from her sacred animal.
Seriously, with all the hunting she does you’d think she’d be fine by me having
some nice clothing materials, but no, she just had to be a spoilsport and a nuisance
every time I asked Ares to go hunt me some dead animal skin.
Oh my, look at the
TV shows! I really must go now. This is the climax from last week’s cliffhanger
ending! Oh, I ship those two so hard I need to plan on having a thorough chat
with the scriptwriter if they don’t get more scenes and hardships!
Love, Mom.
Arabella scrunched up her nose, already used to the
strangeness of her mother and instead inspected the box, “This is bonus? That time
she gave us nothing but a promise of torturing our love life. Ugh, goddess.”
She opened the box and gingerly lifted the light brown
animal skin inside. The pelt was very soft and shiny, already cut into a large
neat rectangle without any shape of its animal form anymore (thank gods). Aphrodite said that it’s
the skin of Artemis’ sacred animal, so Arabella thought it must be a doe.
Part of Arabella shuddered when thinking about the
poor doe Ares killed and skinned to fulfill her mother’s whim. But there was
nothing else she could do for the poor doe, so she had to make do by offering
Artemis a large portion of her dinner later. Oh, and she probably had to offer
some for her mother too. No matter how frustrating that side is, it is always
better to stay on Aphrodite’s good side. Well, her less-horrible side, to be
more precise.
She sighed and put back the pelt inside. Her eyes
glanced at her schedule to check the activities she had to do. Her face turned
thoughtful when she realized that it was almost the second week of April.
Lee’s birthday is
due in a few weeks. What can I give him that will also be useful?
Her mind is reeling to that last time she took Archery
lesson with him. The way Lee repeatedly clenched then unclenched his gloved
hand and looked a slight less graceful than he usually was with his bow and
arrows….
Arabella’s face brightened considerably. She knew what she’d give him. She needed to
have a chat with the Hephaestus cabin and dashed off with her box of doeskin.
