Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children: A Review

Image
I bought this book out of curiosity. The reviews are pretty good and I am really intrigued by the idea of putting together a string of vintage photographs and make a story out of it. That is brilliant. I also love the idea of the time loop and the Bird when I read it. Strange, magical children and the unraveling of a world beyond ours… But that’s more or less all the good parts for me. For me, it feels like the author is a bit inexperienced in narrating a story. It also has a strong straight-white-male (not dead though, immature, perhaps, or slightly self-centered) feelings to it. The romance is also very disappointingly predictable and shallow for me. I’ve yet to read the continuation but I’m currently lacking the motivation to do so :( I would certainly watch the movie though! Perhaps there’d be more interesting things to see… Also, please note that I do not know anything about the author’s personal life. Things mentioned in my review is merely my impression from rea

I Look At You And Thought, “Ah, So This Is Beauty”

For me, falling in love is not the time you see someone or something and thinks,  I love...   But rather, it was the time when you already know somebody, and they might or might not be dear to you, but they are  there  and then that  something  triggered the Fall and you just realize that, Yes .  YES, this what I am willing to bind my whole life to.  And I know I wouldn’t regret it even if nothing will come from my feelings.  Because I realize that that is inevitable.  Because it was Beauty . And for that beauty, I am willing to  fight , to  accept , to  try , to  believe . Because it is Beauty and it’s worth it. But would I find the one I can share this thought with?

Because Children Do Not Forget

Image
Consciously or not  They always remember Whether it was word by word Or simply the feelings they had When you threw it upon them Because after all they are just children And so, when there are times they say  'But you did that', or  'But you said that' Believe them, you did. Children do not ask you to be perfect  They just need you to be true True to your sayings  True to your actions For if you aren't You'll faze them When you blame them for  Things they took up from you You'll trap them And the outcome will be  Their fading trust Their escape And only then will you start to think Or probably not

ArabelLee is Revived! : A Sneak Peek

Image
After the death of Lee Fletcher and Arabella Deshoulieres’ struggle to move on from the love of her life, I decided to stop torturing them and let them go no matter what Aphrodite (and some of her children) wants. It's enough. I'm tired, they're tired, and nothing's gonna come out of their relationship unless Arabella would just hurry up and die already so that she can be reunited with Lee in Elysium.  But of course the Moirae would agree with Aphrodite and I end up with ArabelLee fanfiction that’s need to be written yet again. A birthday wish of a certain friend of mine has gone awry. So here it is, a sneak peek from the newest story of ArabelLee series: Arabella’s Five Failed Attempts in Celebrating Lee’s Birthday. Or, the three times Arabella is numb-tongued, the two times she tries to sneak a gift, and the one time a pair of bells ring a bell. “Bella! A package on your bed.” Mitchell yelled, dashing outside the Aphrodite cabin with Darren cl

Rainbow Rowell's Carry On R(amblings)eview

A bout a month ago, I bought Rainbow Rowell's   Carry On   on a whim. Well, not really on a whim per se, since a certain friend of mine had been nagging me nonstop to buy the book. But, I hadn't even think about visiting the bookstore until my class is redirected to an event held by major in our university's central library.  You see, there's this bookstore in the library stuffed with local and imported books which never fail to make drool each time I so much as glance on its direction. I even have to withdraw my money from the ATM because I didn't have enough, ha. But trust me, it was all worth it.  Carry On   is   magic (pun intended). Breathtaking. Genius. RIGHT UP MY STREET. I feel like reading a super-brilliant Drarry fanfic (and yeah, Drarry is my HP OTP aside from the canon Ronmione, sue me). It's magical, lovely,   angsty , and simply makes me giddy. Darn, I always have a thing for oblivious pining and emotionally constipated characters. I l
