Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children: A Review
I bought this book out of curiosity. The reviews are pretty good and I am really intrigued by the idea of putting together a string of vintage photographs and make a story out of it. That is brilliant. I also love the idea of the time loop and the Bird when I read it. Strange, magical children and the unraveling of a world beyond ours… But that’s more or less all the good parts for me. For me, it feels like the author is a bit inexperienced in narrating a story. It also has a strong straight-white-male (not dead though, immature, perhaps, or slightly self-centered) feelings to it. The romance is also very disappointingly predictable and shallow for me. I’ve yet to read the continuation but I’m currently lacking the motivation to do so :( I would certainly watch the movie though!
