Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children: A Review

I bought this book out of curiosity. The reviews are pretty good and I am really intrigued by the idea of putting together a string of vintage photographs and make a story out of it. That is brilliant.
I also love the idea of the time loop and the Bird when I read it. Strange, magical children and the unraveling of a world beyond ours…

But that’s more or less all the good parts for me.

For me, it feels like the author is a bit inexperienced in narrating a story. It also has a strong straight-white-male (not dead though, immature, perhaps, or slightly self-centered) feelings to it. The romance is also very disappointingly predictable and shallow for me.

I’ve yet to read the continuation but I’m currently lacking the motivation to do so :(
I would certainly watch the movie though! Perhaps there’d be more interesting things to see…

Also, please note that I do not know anything about the author’s personal life. Things mentioned in my review is merely my impression from reading the book. I meant no offense to anyone and write only my personal opinion.
