Because Children Do Not Forget

Consciously or not
They always remember
Whether it was word by word
Or simply the feelings they had
When you threw it upon them
Because after all they are just children

And so, when there are times they say
'But you did that', or
'But you said that'
Believe them, you did.

Children do not ask you to be perfect
They just need you to be true
True to your sayings
True to your actions
For if you aren't

You'll faze them

When you blame them for
Things they took up from you
You'll trap them
And the outcome will be
Their fading trust
Their escape
And only then will you start to think
Or probably not
